After assault on tribal banker, UBI assistant manager from Imphal found dead in Assam

The body of a 47-year-old banker from Imphal, Manipur, was found dead in a house in Assam's Hailakandi district. The cause of death is unclear, and an autopsy has been ordered. The banker had been on sick leave but had met colleagues the evening before and seemed cheerful. The district is home to a significant Manipuri population. In a separate incident, another person has been arrested in connection with an attack on a bank manager, but the main accused remains at large.

SILCHAR: Two days after a tribal manager of a public sector bank from Manipur was seriously hurt in an attack in Assam's Hailakandi district, the body of a 47-year-old banker from Imphal was recovered under mysterious circumstances from a house in the same district.
Ricky W, the assistant manager of Union Bank of India's Katlicherra branch was found dead in his rented house on Friday morning.

An officer at Katlicherra police station said prima facie, the cause of Ricky's death was not clear and an autopsy was ordered.
The bank informed the police that Ricky was on sick leave for the past two days but had met some colleagues from the office on Thursday evening and seemed cheerful.
Hailakandi has been home to a sizable Manipuri population from all communities for decades.
Rickey's body was first then taken to Katlicherra primary health centre where he was declared brought dead. The body was thereafter taken to Hailakandi SK Roy civil hospital for autopsy, but again shifted by police in the presence of a magistrate to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for the post-mortem examination. Ricky's wife, daughter and a few other relatives reached Katlicherra from Imphal Friday evening after hearing the news of his death, sources said.

Abhishek Chakraborty, manager of the bank, told reporters Ricky was on leave for two days, citing health issues. Ricky visited the Katlicherra primary health centre on Thursday and went back to his rented house.
"Around 9pm on Thursday, a few employees of the bank visited his house to see him and had a conversation with him. During the chat, Ricky told them that he was feeling better," a witness said.
Police in connection with Wednesday's attack on a bank manager, nabbed another person identified as Premananda Singh, raising the number of arrested persons to four.
However, the main accused, identified as Jayanta Singh (52), a resident of Rajyeswarpur locality of Lala block in Hailakandi district of Assam continues to remain absconding, said SP (Hailakandi) Leena Doley on Friday.
L Tun Khan Siam, a native of New Lamka locality in Churachandpur district of Manipur is in hospital undergoing treatment for a serious head injury and other bruises.
